It goes without saying that the luxury watch industry is one of the most glamorous and prestigious out there and there are various high-profile events during the year but there is one event in particular which stands out from the crowd and that is the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in which recently concluded in Geneva. The world’s biggest and best luxury watch brands descend on the event to showcase what they have in store for the next twelve months with names like Panerai, IWC, Jaeger LeCoultre and Montblanc in attendance. Safe to say, this year’s event didn’t disappoint and there were some phenomenal luxury timepieces on show – let’s take a look at three of the best from SIHH 2013.
Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Watch: There are some watchmakers out there who just command respect for the excellence of their timepieces and Montblanc are certainly one that falls into this category – with the sensational Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec watch above clearly showcasing why they are one of the most renowned and respected Swiss watchmakers in the industry. This exemplary timepiece certainly had one of the most impressive visual appeals of any of the watches showcased at SIHH this year and it formed the cornerstone of the Montblanc stand at the event. The Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec watch has many impressive features that catch the eye including:
- ‘Wandering’ Digital Display at 6 ‘o’ Clock
- Day Night Indicator
- Sapphire Crystal Glass Casing
- 30m Water Resistance
- Luxury Brown Leather Strap
- Swiss-Made Automatic Movement
- Rose Gold Casing
- 43mm Diameter Watch Face
Montblanc are a watchmaking right at the top of their game and SIHH has merely confirmed most people’s suspicions that they will be one of the leading watchmakers over the next 12 months.
IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Watch: IWC are one of the world’s most prestigious and refined watchmakers and whenever they have new timepieces to hit the market, luxury watch aficionados typically wait with baited breath and they definitely wowed at this year’s SIHH with pieces like the IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar watch pictured above. This spectacular watch turned heads aplenty at the luxury watch event and it easy to see why when you consider some of its features which include sapphire crystal glass with visible mechanism on rear, Swiss-made automatic movement and titanium case. A stunning example for what IWC have in store for 2013.
Officine Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta Watch: Watchmakers that don’t originate in Switzerland are somewhat of a rarity in the luxury timepiece industry so, in order to get noticed, they need to offer some pretty stunning watches – something that can certainly be levelled at Officine Panerai, who herald from Italy and whose timepieces have been worn by the Italian Navy for decades. Their Radiomir and Luminor collection of watches were actually guarded by a military secrecy agreement and weren’t available to the public until 1997 when Panerai were bought by the Richemont Group. Panerai’s offerings at SIHH were met with universal acclaim and one of the most popular to emerge from the event was their Officine Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta timepiece pictured.
