Eddie Bauer is a name most people correlate with humdrum Ford Exhibitions and uninteresting boutiques at American malls. But that shouldn't be the case.
Not only has the brand been quietly fueling some stylish collabs over the last several years but its heritage and history is quite impressive. In fact, its founder, Eddie Bauer himself, a badass and intrepid outdoorsman, developed the first-ever U.S.-patented quilted down jacket after a near-death experience with hypothermia in the PNW. And that tale, and jacket, is the baseline for its latest tld. edition release, which is out today in collaboration with Huckberry.
The co-branded collab is inspired by an archived design of the aforementioned jacket, dubbed the Skyliner, but has been updated in all sorts of ways while maintaining the original bomber-style silhouette. Most notably, a custom colorway that dials in the overall appeal, a water-resistant wax coating applied to the nylon shell gives further weather protection, and a vintage-inspired flannel lining adds extra warmth and style points.
This time around, it also opts for ultra high-loft 800 fill premium down that’s Responsible Down Certified and provides a number of EDC-ready pocket space. An Eddie Bauer x Huckberry labeling commemorating the team-up rounds out the look. Available here.
