S.F.-based apparel artisans Taylor Stitch don't need any help staging a menswear revolution. But when they do collaborate with another brand it's sure to result in something exceedingly cool. Case in point: the new Tomales toggle coat in heavyweight loden wool, designed to make sure you see out the rest of winter – and many more to come – in comfort and style.

Custom made by famed California brand Golden Bear, it's one of the most exclusive items the T.S. crew has ever produced, as only 100 pieces are being made by hand in San Francisco. The Tomales is based upon a coat first issued to European sailors in the 1800s, and later adopted as a staple of various royal navies; the iconic wooden toggles were originally designed for ease of use while wearing gloves. Other standout features are the roomy hood and patch pockets, chin strap, and leather detailing on the cuff and inside pocket.

"We saw no reason to fuss with the fundamentals," T.S. notes, "and focused instead on refinement by way of superior materials coupled with Golden Bear’s peerless construction." The smooth 24-oz. melton wool used is "exceptionally hard-wearing and weather-resistant," bolstered by a Thinsulate layer for true warmth.

Above all Taylor Stitch notes the fact that there will only ever be 100 made means the Tomales will become "a prized artifact of American Style," and hence you should make room in your coat closet immediately. Grab yours here before they're gone.
