When the S.F.-based men's style gurus at Taylor Stitch take inspiration from a vintage piece, there's no telling where they'll go with it. And it's not always as simple as replicating something in a different cloth.
Case in point: their newly-issued Jungle Shirts, which were actually inspired by a jacket. Not just any jacket, however, but the famed (in vintage apparel circles anyway) Jungle Jacket from the Vietnam War.
"Regardless of your proximity to the Equator, if you’ve got an adventurous streak, you’ll find a lot to love in the Jungle Shirt," the brand promises. While some features like the slanted, flapped chest pockets, flat hem, and hidden button placket remain the same, the T.S. version has been updated and streamlined for today's man.
It has also of course been reinvented fabric-wise, with the new edition crafted of 100% organic cotton, responsible sourced to boot. And it weighs in at 6-oz, so it’s "lightweight without feeling flimsy."
Available in both a groovy Tiger Camo and laidback Ocean Blue, the fine print includes a special wash for a soft, broken-in texture, and eyelets at the armpits to keep you cool. So get ready for some short-sleeve adventures, stat.
