Happy National Margarita Day

As far as I see it, any day dedicated to appreciating a tequila-based cocktail is a good day. For those celebrating at home instead of at a restaurant or bar, here's two solid alternatives to the standard marg.

British Breakfast Margarita


• 2oz. Herradura Silver Tequila (or yours of choice)
• Large bar spoon of apricot jam
• ¾ oz. lime juice
• ¼ oz. simple syrup


1. Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
2. Shake hard and pour into an ice filled old fashioned glass.
3. Garnish with kumquats, apricots and a mint sprig.


Mango Scotch Bonnet Margarita


• 2oz. Herradura Silver Tequila (or yours of choice)
• ¾ oz. Lime juice
• 3 slices of scotch bonnet pepper
• 3 cubic inches of mango diced
• ½ oz. mango jam


1. Crush mango and chili slices in the base of a shaker with a muddler.
2. Add cubed ice and remaining ingredients.
3. Shake hard and strain over ice in an old fashioned glass.
4. Garnish with a scotch bonnet chili and a roll of dried mango.
