We've seen cool affordable watches emerging out of Scandinavia, France and even Texas of late, but until now Italy wasn't really pulling its weight. Unimatic's cool new U3-AN chronograph just put it solidly on the map though. The DLC-coated watch is limited to just 300 examples and priced at $725, which is a great deal on a piece this sharp.
An "adventure in minimalist style and compelling functionality," the military diver-inspired timepiece has a 300-meter depth rating, two sub-dials with gilt-style markings, a 30-minute and 24-hour counter and thick cream colored indices and matching hands.
It runs on Seiko's ultra-reliable VK64 Meca movement that "combines the accuracy of quartz with the crisp feel and performance" of a mechanical chronograph. And you get both a black made in Italy Horween leather two-piece strap and a black NATO strap with matching hardware. If you're already picturing this on your wrist, pick up one for yourself here.
