Rolex lovers heralded the 2017 publication of The Watch Book – Rolex by expert Gisbert L. Brunner as a long-awaited coffee table book for collectors and consumers. Now German luxury publisher teNeues has issued a revised and expanded edition that adds Rolex's latest highly-coveted designs.
The Watch Book – Rolex: New Extended Edition, now available to order on Amazon for $64, runs to 250 pages (32 of them new) of lavish photography and everything you ever wanted to know about the world's most famous watch brand.
"No doubt about it: Rolex is a myth that draws millions under its spell," Brunner writes in his foreword. "Of course, this brand’s international reputation didn’t materialize out of thin air."
He notes that "Innovative dynamism, precision, longevity, reliability, recognizability and exemplary preservation of value are only a few of the factors that annually motivate hundreds of thousands of people to buy wristwatches bearing the Rolex insignia."
Chapters in the oversize tome, which is covered in dark green material echoing that of a Rolex watch box, include History, Milestones, Production and Values, Rolex and the World of Automobiles (a new addition), and Auctions.
"The biography of this exceptional watch manufactory is inextricably linked with many exciting stories ranging from technical inventions, through private events, to historical adventures," Brunner notes.
From the original Oyster timepieces that revolutionized the watchmaking industry to the Explorer, Submariner, GMT and Rolex's latest bejeweled "Rainbow" Daytona, Brunner provides an accessible and beautifully illustrated guide to the watches that every man of style aspires to own someday.
