The Apple Watch - Everything You Need To Know
We'll be honest, everyone involved with Airows are huge fans of mechanical timepieces and had almost zero interest in a smartwatch, but the newly announced Apple Watch is the best digital watch on the market and beat our expectations... Here's everything you need to know.
-- First off, let's take a look at the thing on wrists... Not bad, right?
-- It has an easily customizable face.
-- Super easy to switch out and change up straps. REALLY like this -- wish more watches were this easy to swap out from canvas to leather to rubber to stainless steel bracelet. A bunch of third parties will make their own that go with this, kind of like the iPhone and cases now.
-- The crown, or known here as the "digital crown," is used to control, input, and interact with the watch. Scroll to zoom, push to go home, etc.
-- Available in 38mm and 42mm. So glad it's not gigantic---tasteful choices here.
-- Retina display with a screen made of sapphire.
-- Can tell the difference between touch and force, so there's a district "tap" and a "press." Basically your right click/left click.
-- Taptic feedback, which is basically a subtle rumble.
-- Detects your pulse rate + uses an accelerometer to track your fitness.
-- A range of watch faces that are super easy to switch out.
-- Three district watches...
-- The "Apple Watch," which is the standard with a polished stainless steal case.
-- "Apple Watch Sport," which isn't stainless steal but is stronger, lighter, and more durable.
-- And finally, the "Apple Watch Edition," which is made from 18k gold. This looks more trashy than lux.
-- Notifications and third party apps will be there at launch.
-- Starts at $349 and available early 2015.
-- Overall, not really feeling this, but it definitely has our attention and curiosity. Excited to try it out in person. Here's some photos of the Apple Watch doing its thing...
