RUF Automobile, famed for its incredible custom and restomod 911s, has teamed up with Stockholm's Nezumi Studios on a retro-styled chronograph for lovers of all things classic Porsche. The Voiture Chronograph ref. VQ2S.901 is a limited edition version of one of Nezumi designer and 911 collector David Campo Cárdenes' most important watch models.
Limited to just 200 individually-numbered examples, the RUF x Nezumi Voiture Chrono incorporates classic RUF design elements like its iconic yellow logo, and Alois Ruf, Jr. and his wife Estonia Ruf, who run the company, had a hand in its creation.
The Voiture, Cárdenes' original watch design, has overtones of classic-and-exotic dial chronographs like the Rolex Daytona, Universal Genève Compax and Tudor “Monte-Carlo” from the 1960s and ‘70s. In addition to the tachymeter on the bezel, it features contrasting 24-hour, active second, and 60-minute counter sub-dials.
“Watches and cars are a natural combination,” Estonia Ruf says. “The engineering and the way the pieces work together to create a whole greater than the sum of their parts—both cars and watches are functional art. Nezumi Studios have created something beautiful, and it truly fits in with the same philosophy we use to approach our vehicle designs.”
The original edition of the 40mm stainless steel watch, which is made in Germany and comes presented on a brown leather rally-style strap, has sold out, but we're hopeful that a second edition will be issued soon. Meanwhile, the classic Voiture Chrono in a number of cool colorways is available here.
