Legendary German camera house Leica is jumping into the smartphone space with the Leitz 1, which features a gorgeously minimal design finished with their iconic red dot. And though they've lent their camera technology to phones in the past, this is the first time the brand has taken full precedence.
The luxe release is in collaboration with SoftBank and will be exclusive to the Japanese market. Though if it's successful, we should see more Leica phones globally over the coming months and years. It will cost roughly $1,700 USD, with preorders going live on June 18.
The phone definitely doesn't slouch with its technology, which is led by an impressive 6.1" 120Hz Pro IGZO OLED screen and a camera that pairs a single 20-megapixel 1-inch sensor (the largest in any phone, ever) with a 19mm-equivalent f/1.9 ultrawide lens. Other specs include a Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
