The Birdwell Beach Britches x Weiss Watch is Cool as Can Be

A shared love of surf culture and Southern California has led two super-cool American brands, Birdwell Beach Britches and Weiss, to collaborate on a nifty new watch. The Birdwell Beach Britches x Weiss Birdie Surf Watch, limited to just 20 pieces priced at $2,199, comes in red or white (10 pieces each) on a striped nylon NATO strap and features Birdwell's mascot dating from the brand's early days in 1964 with his arms functioning as the watch's hands.

The timepiece pays tribute to 1960’s surf culture, with an endless wave graphic counting down the seconds at 9 o’clock. Los Angeles-based watchmaker Weiss, which has developed a cult following, used its in-house CAL 1003 movement for the piece, machined from solid 316L stainless steel with sapphire crystals on the front and exhibition back.

The watch is also water-resistant up to 330 feet and each piece will be numbered and accompanied by special collector’s edition packaging. It will be available for purchase on the Birdwell website and at the brand's flagship retail store in Manhattan Beach, where company owner and tastemaker Matt Jacobson resides, later this spring. Surf's up....
