TAG Heuer has teamed up with UK car collector, watch customizer and tastemaker George Bamford of Bamford Watch Dept. (BWD) on a cool new take on the iconic Heuer Monaco made famous by the King of Cool, just unveiled at Baselworld in Switzerland.
The instantly recognizable 39mm square faced timepiece with motor racing roots gets a bespoke blacked out solid carbon case, black dial and signature Bamford aqua blue subdials and chronograph counters. This limited edition model will only be available at TAG Heuer brick and mortar and online boutiques in certain countries.
The carbon case is designed to be both super lightweight and highly resistant to wear and tear. The watch's dial and the case-back are engraved with "Monaco Bamford" and it's presented on a matte black alligator leather strap.
TAG Heuer created a special mold for the carbon case of the watch to dimensions of the timeless Monaco, which is powered by an in-house automatic movement. No price has been given as yet, but as for the nickname this will be known by to future collectors, we are hereby dubbing it the "Evil Steve McQueen."
