The World's Most Expensive Japanese Whisky Collection Is Coming Up for Auction

International auction house Bonhams has secured the world's rarest and most expensive collection of Japanese whisky for its Fine & Rare Wine and Whisky sale on Aug. 16 in Hong Kong. Estimated at up to about $770,000, the lot is the iconic Hanyu Ichiro Full Card Series, comprising some 54 bottles in all.

The rare elixir, designed in homage to a deck of playing cards, was bottled from single casks of premium Japanese whisky ranging distilled from 1985 to 2014 at the renowned, and now closed, distillery of Hanyu. Only four complete sets are thought to exist in the world.
