"There's something beautiful about a handmade plate," says designer Jono Pandolfi. Meals at some of the best restaurants in the world are served on his dinnerware. His plates, bowls, and cups also appear on tables at hotels including The Little Nell in Aspen, Rosewood Baha Mar in the Bahamas, and several Four Seasons. Usually, the only way to buy this handsome stoneware is via the company website. But they’ve just launched an exclusive selection at Design within Reach in a new grey glazed colorway that will give any table an instant style upgrade.
What makes Jono Pandofi’s ceramics so coveted is that the dishes aren’t factory-made. Each piece is molded by hand, from prepping the clay, de-airing it to keep bubbles out, cutting out the shapes, and tending them on the potter’s wheel all the way through two separate firings and final glaze. His process was profiled in a James Beard Award-winning video by Eater.
The Design Within Reach collection includes a four-piece Coupe place setting consisting of a dinner plate, salad plate, cereal bowl, and what they call the Alaska bowl. There are also coffee cups and serving pieces. They have a thick rounded edge and are designed to be durable. Available here.
