Among Scotch whisky connoisseurs, the posh John Walker & Sons Private Collection is known for some of the most sybaritic sipping around. Now Johnnie Walker is launching the fifth and final release in the set, the new 28-Year-Old Midnight Blend, a "smooth and indulgent Scotch whisky" to be shared or savored as you see fit.

Only 3,888 limited edition, individually numbered decanters containing rare and precious whiskies from the most valuable casks in the Johnnie Walker reserves, aged for a minimum of 28 years, are being offered for sale at $750 apiece. The name is a tribute to the "midnight" moment when this decadent blend is best savored, neat. It features layers of butterscotch, caramel and toffee, balanced with a fruitiness and touch of spice.

"Whiskies aged for 28 years are rare and very special," notes Johnnie Walker Master Blender Jim Beveridge. "In our search to find the flavors and characteristics necessary for a rich, indulgent Scotch like Midnight Blend, we were very lucky to have access to some of the most mature reserves drawn from the four corners of Scotland. Each individual malt and grain used in the final whisky adds layers of flavor to the 28 Year Old Midnight Blend." We'll clink glasses to that....
