Ahead of its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the first trailer for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile just dropped, showing Zac Efron in action as serial killer Ted Bundy.

The tone feels contrastingly upbeat and fun, considering Bundy's harrowing acts, but that's because the movie is actually told through the perspective Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy's longtime girlfriend, portrayed by Lily Collins, which explains why the whole thing feels both intoxicating and romantic but dirty and out of place. It's an interesting creative choice, and one that's sure to draw up criticism, but we're excited to see how effective it is in the film.

John Malkovich, Jim Parson, Kaya Scodelario, Haley Joel Osment, and Jeffrey Donovan co-star in the movie, which hasn't locked down a release date.
