The Best Shows and Movies for Adults on Disney+

For the most part, the Disney+ platform is focused on kids and family fare, so there’s nothing too inappropriate other than The Simpsons and the occasional Marvel euphemism (“She did quite a spread on Tony last year…”) thrown into the mix.

That said, there's great content for adults on the streamer that's worth watching once you plunge through The Mandalorian and your 27th viewings of Guardians of the Galaxy and Rogue One. And that's on top of nostalgic flavors worth revisiting like Darkwing Duck and Cool Runnings. Here are our favorites:

Free Solo

Alex Honnold is somewhat of a freak of nature. In this insane documentary from Jimmy Chin and National Geographic, Alex attempts to be the first person to free solo climb El Capitan.

The World According to Jeff Goldblum

If there was a most eccentric award, Jeff Goldblum would win, hands down. That said, watching him explore his unique interests like sneakers and tattoos is pretty damn entertaining.

The Imagineering Story

From mechanical Abraham Lincoln to Disney World to Pixar, this documentary series explores the ins and outs of the Walt Disney Imagineering company. If you like entrepreneurship or creativity, this is an essential watch.

Marvel's Runaways

From Josh Schwartz (Chuck, The OC), Marvel's Runaways is about a group of teens who discover their parents are actually super-villains in disguise. Most people missed this series when it originally aired on Hulu, but it's worth a watch.

Togo

Togo is the amazing true story of a sled dog that led the 1925 serum run, despite being the runt of the litter. There’s a handful of questionable CGI moments here, but as always, Willem Dafoe is killer.

Miracle

Kurt Russell's speech in Miracle is so good they jokingly copied it in the Vince Vaughn comedy, Dilemma. Check out this story of Herb Brooks, a player-turned-coach who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory against a seemingly unbeatable Soviet team. If hockey isn't your sport, The Sandlot, Remember the Titans, The Rookie and Invincible are also streaming on Disney+.

TRON Trifecta

Okay, so there’s not a movie called TRON Trifecta, but Disney+ does include the original TRON, TRON: Legacy, and the (surprisingly good) animated series, TRON: Uprising, that features a vocal performance from Elijah Wood.
