This flick actually looks pretty excellent. It's written and directed by John Ridley, the guy who along with Steve McQueen (no, not that Steve McQueen) helped bring the smash hit 12 Years A Slave to the big screen. It also stars Andree 3000, who is a surprisingly capable actor in every single thing he has been in so far, so you gotta expect he'll just crush this role. The films covers a year in Hendrix's life from 1966-67 as an unknown backup guitarist playing New York's Cheetah Club to making his mark in London's music scene up until his Monterey Pop triumph, the film presents an intimate portrait of the sensitive young musician on the verge of becoming a rock legend.
