Matthew Vaughn — the stylish filmmaker behind Layer Cake and the Kingsman franchise — has just revealed he will be directing a new spy movie titled Argylle, which is based on the upcoming debut novel from Ellie Conway. The movie is said to focus on "the world's greatest spy" with an amnesia angle that plays with memory.
“When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the ’50s,” notes Vaughn. “This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”
Set to start shooting in Europe next month, Henry Cavill of Mission: Impossible — Fallout and Man from U.N.C.L.E. fame is set to star alongside an impressive ensemble cast that includes Sam Rockwell (Jojo Rabbit), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), John Cena (The Suicide Squad), Samuel L. Jackson (Captain Marvel), and Dua Lipa who will be making her acting debut. Lipa will also write the title track of the film and assist with the score.
The globe-trolling spy adventure is set up as a trilogy with two additional films already in the works. More intel soon....
