The legendary Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is due to open the “Andy Warhol: Cars – Works from the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection” on July 23, which includes 40 art different art pieces and five Mercedes-Benz vehicles that served as inspiration for the late artist's last commission. Also on display is Warhol's 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, which he owned but famously never drove.
“Andy Warhol was an iconic and influential figure that pioneered Pop art and culture,” says Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “Not many have seen his automotive works, so we are excited to display them to the public alongside the unique vehicles that inspired his creative visions. It is an exclusive exhibit that appeals to both admirers of fine art and amazing automobiles.”
Closing Jan. 22 of next year, this is definitely not one to miss.
