At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show Porsche plans to unveil its fastest Panamera ever, a sleek 680 hp hybrid beauty that's second only to the insane 918 Spyder in terms of raw power – and tops the Ferrari 488 GTB.
The 2018 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid marks a major turning point for Porsche and the future of ridiculously fast cars – the first time the marque has ever made a plug-in hybrid the flagship of the Panamera line.
The S E-Hybrid combines the 550 hp, 4.0-liter V8 engine from the Panamera Turbo with a 130 hp electric motor to deliver the 680 horses and 626 lb.-ft. of torque, good for a 0 to 60 clock of 3.2 seconds and a top "track" speed of 192 mph.
Expected to go on sale in the U.S. by the end of the year, the S-E Hybrid will also be available in Executive trim with a 5.9-inch longer wheelbase, rear axle steering, 8-way power rear seats, and 4 – zone climate control.
Standard equipment on both includes Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) including Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Power Steering Plus and the Sport Chrono Package.
The price for the 2018 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid will be $184,400, while the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Executive will start at $194,800. And this should put paid to any lingering complaints from purists about a four-door Porsche not living up to the name....
