Land Rover Developing Hydrogen-Powered Defender

It's easy to forget how exciting hydrogen vehicle potential was for a minute with the rise of Tesla and electric cars. But Land Rover hasn't moved on completely. In fact, the British builder has just announced it's developing a prototype Defender powered by a fuel cell electric (FCEV) powertrain that generates electricity via hydrogen to power up.

It will enter testing this year and has the potential to offer a handful of upsides over purely electric solutions, most notably dramatically faster refuel times and minimal loss of range in colder temperatures. "This makes the technology ideal for larger, longer-range vehicles, or those operated in hot or cold environments," notes Land Rover. More intel soon....
