Five Incredible Cars Set to Cross the Auction Block This Fall

RM Sotheby’s has announced that the auction of the incredible Elkhart Collection of classic cars will now be held on Oct. 23–24 in Indiana, meaning collectors and enthusiasts alike have something big to look forward to. The auction house notes that the Elkhart Collection is the "result of decades of judicious and targeted collecting," and comprises the "most exceptional marques and models in automotive history," from British and Italian sports cars to microcars, classics, supercars and coachbuilt icons.

Here are our five of our favorites:

1952 Ferrari 225 S Berlinetta by Vignale

One of only five built, this is a stunning example of the sports racer produced by Ferrari in 1952 which enjoyed competition success at events like the Mille Miglia, Le Mans, and the Monaco Grand Prix.

2006 Ford GT Heritage

Ford GTs in the famed Gulf Oil livery made famous by Steve McQueen remain one of our all-time favorite automotive icons. This was originally owned by hockey great Wayne Gretzky.

1967 Toyota 2000GT

The 2000GT rocketed to fame after an appearance in the James Bond flick You Only Live Twice, and it remains one of the sexiest and most sought-after Japanese cars ever built. This is one of just 62 examples built for the US market.

2010 Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale Zagato

Built to commemorate 100 years of Alfa Romeo road cars, this sexy beast inspired by the iconic Alfa TZ is one of just nine built. The tubular space-frame construction and carbon-fiber coachwork is accompanied by a 600 hp V-10 engine.

1964 Aston Martin DB5 'Vantage Specification'

Another car made famous by 007, the striking original blue paint on this model makes it a true standout among British classics. One of 886 saloon examples built, with an engine upgraded to the more powerful Vantage specification, it was comprehensively restored in 2015.
