As you've probably heard by now, due to the pandemic the world-famous Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, traditionally held in California every August, has been canceled this year. Aside from the main event itself, Pebble Beach also sees some of the year's biggest auctions of classic cars, in which multimillion-dollar vehicles change hands.
RM Sotheby's is not about to leave collectors high and dry, however. The world's top automotive auction house is staging an online-only sale dubbed SHIFT/Monterey, taking place on Aug. 14–15 (bidding opens Aug. 10).
A favorite from the early previews is this 1959 Porsche 356 A 1600 Convertible D by Drauz, one of the most sought-after models in the world of early four-cylinder Porsches. Far more comfortable than a Speedster and "magnitudes" scarcer than the 356 B Roadster, the dark green paint on this example really puts it over the top.
