Move over Pebble Beach – the world's most elegant classic car event is now in France. Last year was the inaugural edition of the Chantilly Concours d'Elegance, and for the 2nd annual event, which just took place outside Paris, the style factor shot through the roof. Concours d'Elegance were first held in France in the 1920s, so it's fitting that they've recaptured pole position.
Sponsored by watchmaker Richard Mille, 100 beautiful cars were on display as well as some classic motorcycles. There was also an exhibition polo match. Best of Show was awarded to a 1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K Special Roadster while the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R took Best Concept Car honors. Oh and that Ferrari 250 GTO? Not bad either. Luckily Sports Car Digest had several photographers on the scene.
We're already planning our trip to next year's extravaganza. Panama hats, Citröen DS rally cars and Brough Superiors? Count us in. Commence the French lessons and book a suite at the Ritz.
