You thought the sports card market was ready to cool off? It's just getting started, it seems. This past weekend, not one but two separate 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie cards sold at Goldin Auctions for a cool $738,000 USD each. And no, that's not a typo.
Up significantly from the last sale on Jan. 3 where the same card went for $217,000 USD, this seems a little crazy until you start realizing high-end trading cards and high-end art pieces are one and the same. And if you love sports and nostalgia with seemingly unlimited capital on hand, are you more likely to invest in His Airness or Francis Bacon...?
